My interest and focus as an artist lies in exploring the emotional attachment we have to contemporary and historical objects as simple vignettes of life. My still life subjects– which mainly focus around food, candy, toys and antiques– become powerful catalysts to a world of memories and emotions that are deeply personal to the viewer. Social networking sites are important to my creative process because they allow me greater access to engage the public in dialogue about favourite memories and attachments, and incorporate the expressions into my art. Social networking sites also allow me to open my studio to the world by way of posting hourly updates of my works in progress, announcing shows, giving studio tours, displaying videos and ultimately, selling works. Social networking sites in essence allow me to have a 24 hour open studio, where everyone in the world is welcome and there are always enough chairs.
