The Land March 1 - 31, 2001
Opening Reception: Thursday March 1, 6-8 pm
Alex Abdilla Each artist exhibiting presents his or her own unique vision of landscape. Jane Brookes and Kathryn Jacobi paint vibrant landscapes from memory that are void of extraneous detail that could interfere with the mood, while Judith Currelly's paintings represent the actual experience of being a bush pilot in Northern British Columbia and the Yukon. By depicting monumental landscapes from an aerial perspective, Judith explores the influence her flying has had on her paintings. Both Phil Borges and Alex Abdilla respond to the land through the vehicle of photography. Phil focuses on endangered cultures and tribal people around the world and Alex comments on how our basic need for shelter has turned into a commodity. [ Top ] |
