Halcyon Days
August 2 – September 1, 2007
The Diane Farris Gallery is pleased to present Halcyon Days,
a group show of gallery artists and featured guests.
Derived from the Greek myth of Alcyone and Ceyx, the phrase
“Halcyon Days” refers to a time when the God Aeolus
calmed the ocean’s waves so that the area’s kingfisher-like
halcyon birds were able to lay their eggs. These days became
known as the “Halcyon Days” and signify a time of
peace, tranquility and prosperity.
The artworks in this exhibit span the abstract, landscape and
figurative genres. They share a feeling of serenity commonly
associated with long, languid summer days.
