The artists of Futura Bold were perhaps the most precocious students I have ever met! When I first encountered them at work in their final year at Art School, they had essentially taken over a huge tract of the available student studio space. Their vision and ambitious projects began to expand to fill these to overflowing. They just didn't seem to know that they were only students.

When I met them the morning following the Futura Bold exhibition they astonished me with their seriousness and dedication to emergence as full-fledged professional artists. They didn't seem to doubt for a moment that they were going to make some mark upon the art world; they simply could not accept my cautionary remarks that they might have to work especially diligently if they wished to impact the world while based in Vancouver. On all counts they have surpassed even their own lofty expectations. The artists of Futura Bold have made a spectacular contribution to our world; their works are amongst the richest and most gratifying paintings created over the past 15 years. ...And isn't it amusing that my initial concern should prove out to be right, but from the exact opposite angle.

They, quite deservingly so, are internationally acclaimed; while they still await proper and fuller respect from many of the art institutions regionally and nationally.
