The Diane Farris Gallery invites you to candy, a winter treat by gallery artists and guests.
candy presents a wide array of styles and subject matter in paintings, drawings, photographs, glass and sculpture by new artists and long-time favourites.
The exhibition pieces have been chosen from new or recent works of the participating artists.
From Inner Mongolia, Xue Mo has sent new portraits of women and girls who dwell in the grasslands of her homeland. Amy Alice Thompson’s whimsical little “bird girls” on vintage paper are small treasures to put under the tree. “Evergreen”, by photographer/multi media artist Alex Abdilla, pays homage to Arthur Erickson’s lush Evergreen Building – a landmark in downtown Vancouver.
The show includes stunning new light box installations by Wesley Anderson that feature his exquisite botanicals, and two works by Nick Lepard — a large expressive self-portrait in oil on canvas and the preparatory drawing for the painting. Jesse Garbe is also showing a small self-portrait.
Angela Grossmann has painted beautiful solitary figures on vintage player piano rolls and
Amy-Claire Huestis has contributed a new, large oil painting in the style of European Romantics.
Judith Currelly presents a haunting painting of a melting glacier and a painting on paper of a Polar Bear on thin ice.
Shannon Belkin’s larger-than-life St. Bernard, “Sampson”, will delight anyone who has ever loved a dog!
We hope you will join us for a festive open house in the afternoon of Saturday, December 8. Meet and greet the artists and toast the holiday season with us. Families and friends are very welcome.
