Saidi's oil panels, reminiscent of the work of the old masters, examine the unity of forms. Figure and Ground explores the visual unity of forms, while pairing compositions of Still Life and Figurative painting. Juxtaposing the two genres, Saidi states that such forms together will deliver an inner consistency of reality, presenting a riddle that was caught in a net of colours. Her seemingly timeless images of such every day objects captivate in their still state a contrast to our fast paced every-day life with the constancy of racing imagery. Inspired by Caravaggio, Saidi's earth-toned palettes and simple, timeless shapes present a distinct mood in a living moment that strive to embrace a communion with other living things.

Born in a farming community in Israel, Natty is the daughter of the prominent sculptor and muralist Moshe Saidi, who at the Royal Academy in London studied under Henry Moore. Natty, having extensive exposure to the arts, went on to study at the Avini Institue of Fine Art in Tel Aviv, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, at Langara College in Vancouver and was also trained as a graphic artist for the Israeli Army in 1977.

Based in Vancouver, Natty Saidi will be present for her opening.
