Chronophobic

November 5 – 28, 2009
Artist Reception: November 5, 6 – 8 pm

Scientific processes and technology have recently revealed the staggering age of the universe and the insignificant time humanity has spent in its throes. Similarly, technology has allowed us to access imagery from the expanses of the macrocosmos to the infinitesimal of the microcosmos. Yet the human form remains, above all else, one of the most compelling images.

In this series, each portrait is painted from duplicate photographs, which vary in exposure, hue, and saturation.  This use of color and collage alludes to the subjectivity that divides us when experiencing the world.
