During this past year Sam Lam has lived and worked in New York City during the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11. He found a sense of comfort in returning to the use of simple shapes grown in nature that have escaped the devastations of mankind. He has wrapped some of these forms in tissue and bathed them in light -further enhancing their precious status.
Linked to the paintings are large-scale sculptures of built-up layering of plywood which is joined and then altered to form the finished work. Lam has found this first foray into sculpture challenging and exciting.
