My paintings are an exploration of movement and space. Through
experimenting with colour shifts and contrasts, I observe the
transient nature of light and other elements that qualify a
landscape. I am interested in large areas and open spaces, such
as skies and surfaces defined by pattern formations.
I use thick, opaque paint often applied in parts with a palette
knife followed by translucent glazes of thinner washes. This
creates texture and depth through contrast while giving the
paintings weight and substance.
I am working towards a style that combines traditional painting
techniques with personal experiences. My inspiration comes from
my travels and exposure to world cultures. Perhaps this accounts
for why my work seeks out subjects that resist change. Despite
their variance, my skies refer ultimately to a universal space
of collective memory.
