PULP

Memory and experience, truth and fantasy
are reinterpreted in this series “ Pulp”.
The subject has been informed by my memories
of pulp paperback novels by Mickey Spillane
and silver screen magazines.
All had the allure of forbidden fruit,
broads, cowboys, easy women, untrustworthy men.
This series takes this genre and,
in combination with a personal narrative,
twists it into a contemporary morality play,
complete with strong, even vengeful women,
making tough choices or simply defying the expected.
I view this series as a vehicle in which my daughter,
as muse and performance artist,
interprets my experiences and memories
and by extension they become hers.
This series is pure pulp
“every story true” or is it?
