Living by the water we see through mists. The air that hangs over Georgia Strait in the summer creates a shifting frame of reference, a sense of blue. In my work I try and capture that sense, subtly, minimally, dreaming into the landscape, sensitive to it's intensity.
The current project is influenced by the years I spent in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast. I've been inspired by the simple pleasure of sitting by the water and dreaming into the horizon. The endless blue & sense of peace are intangible & fleeting, but carry the power to suggest limitless possibility. This sense of hope, so fragile and yet so indomitable, is the inspiration for my work.
