Lions Bay is located between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish on the
road to Whistler, British Columbia. The Whistler road, known
as the "Sea to Sky Highway", is built along the edge
of a cliff rising almost straight up from the sea. Many of the
homes in Lions Bay are designed specifically for the dramatic
topography, giving the village interesting and varied architectural
styles.
Approximately 1400 people live in Lions Bay in about 600 private
dwellings. The general store features a coffee shop, post office,
art gallery and a little grocery department. Community programs
in the municipal town hall include dance classes, floor hockey
and kids programs. An emergency building houses a volunteer
fire department, ambulance station, and a search and rescue
team. The town has one marina.
Lions Bay is famous for its sunsets and spectacular views up
the Howe Sound.
