| BRIDGES to Understanding
is an extensive international project and website created by gallery artist
and photographer Phil Borges. For many years, while Borges was taking photos of the indigenous people of the world, his dream was to connect young people of diverse cultures in a manner that goes beyond photographs and books. He realized his dream with his creation of "BRIDGES to Understanding". The BRIDGES project electronically links children from around the world through computers and imagery. So far, children from 16 schools are communicating, comparing and learning about each other's cultures and lifestyles through digital storytelling. The BRIDGES to Understanding Project is an emerging, inspirational, educational model for enhanced cultural understanding and to encourage the voice and creativity of children all over the world.
