Seattle's Borges among photographers honored with lifetime awards
Phil Borges of Seattle will be among the photographers
receiving lifetime achievement awards Sunday in Los Angeles as part of
the first annual International Photography Awards.
Borges, 60, is receiving the Humanitarian Award for
his longtime work in the Third World, including Tibet, and for his two-year-old
photo initiative called Bridges that links schools and students around
the globe (see accompanying photo from Peru).
Among the other recipients of lifetime achievement awards (called "Lucies")
are lens stars Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ruth Bernard, Annie Leibovitz and
Mary Ellen Mark.
